It's In The Marrow And The Blood
I have always been awed at the fact that we as humans have learned how to physically share body parts. We can give our blood, our marrow, and even our organs to our fellow human beings.
Isn't that incredible? To think that your blood can be coursing around in another person's veins...bringing them better health and healing!
With that in mind, I just wanted to share with you two (easy) opportunities to help out.
1) Sign up for the National Marrow Donor Program
http://www.marrow.org/JOIN/Join_Now/join_now.html
There is a pretty simple form to fill out online and then they will send you a kit to swab your cheek and send back to them. A piece of cake!
It can be terribly difficult to find marrow matches for those in need so obviously the more we have in the registry, the better.
2) Give Blood through the Local Blood Bank
http://www.bbh.org/
You can make appointments online to donate blood at the Dillingham location.
There are also mobile blood drives happening every day of the week at sites throughout the island. Visit
http://www.bbh.org/asp/mobiles_all.asp to find one near you.
If you live out of state, visit http://www.aabb.org/Content/Donate_Blood/Where_to_Donate/ to find a donation site near you.
Thanks for reading. I hope you will consider taking advantage of this awesome opportunity to share your gifts with the world.
